Smoke Restoration

From the moment a fire is put out, acid attack starts from the smoke residue and action is required to minimize damage and prevent consequential loss. To minimise this an understanding of how the smoke can cause acidic carbon residue is critical in order to stop further deterioration of building and contents by the smoke.
Any delay in removal of smoke residue will result in acid attack and odour impregnation and increase the consequential losses. Smoke residue contains chlorides and when the fire is put out moisture is added to the residues and they create acids. The smoke residue will cause discolouration of plastic and metal polished surfaces, tile grouting, furniture, metals, white goods, worktops, UPVC will discolour and aluminium doors and windows will tarnish and corrode. Permanent staining caused by the smoke will be caused to carpets, clothing curtains and upholstery, painted walls will yellow, metals will corrode and pit and painted walls will yellow permanently. Wood furniture will need to be refinished and china, glass and crystal may need to be replaced due to etching and pitting.
